carry out the operation
(1.62 * 10^3) + (3.4 * 10^2)
If the answer is 1.96 10^3
HOw do I get there? what do I do?

since multiplication is associative,
(1.62 * 10^3) + (3.4 * 10^2)
= (1.62 * 3.4) * (10^3 * 10^2)
= 5.508 * 10^5
I have no idea how you got your supposed answer.
