could you please explain how to graph two functions on a calculator at the same time? One is linear and one is exponential and I am to graph the at the same time. I put one of them in as y1 and one in as y2, but the only one that shows up is the linear one. The exponential one does not show up at all.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

there are many calculators out there.

Consult your model's user manual.

that's helpful, thanks.

Don't you think I did that first?

hard to say. Many people just ignore the user's guide, then expect others to somehow know just what they need.

To graph two functions on a calculator at the same time, follow these steps:

1. Press the "y=" button on your calculator to enter the equation editor.
2. Enter your linear function in the first equation slot, typically labeled "y1." Make sure it is entered correctly, including the sign for each term.
3. Enter your exponential function in the second equation slot, typically labeled "y2." Again, ensure it is entered correctly, including the exponent.
4. After entering both equations, press the "graph" or "graph" button to see the displayed graph.
5. If only one of the functions is showing up, there are a few possibilities for what might be going wrong:

a. Check if the visible graph is zoomed in too close to the linear function to see the exponential function. To adjust the window, you can press the "zoom" button and use the arrow keys to select "Zoom Out" or manually adjust the range of x and y values.

b. Another possibility is that the exponential function has a much larger or smaller y-value compared to the linear function. In this case, it might be outside the default viewing window. Again, adjust the window by using the "zoom" button or manually setting the x and y ranges to include the exponential function's values.

c. If the exponential function is not showing up, it's also worth checking if it is graphed incorrectly. Make sure the equation is entered correctly, especially concerning the right syntax for the calculator you are using.

d. Lastly, ensure that both functions are enabled on the graphing screen. You can access this by pressing the "2nd" or "mode" button (depending on the calculator), then check that the "Plot1" and "Plot2" options are highlighted or selected.

By following these steps and considering the possible issues mentioned, you should be able to graph both the linear and exponential functions simultaneously on your calculator.
