Ignoring unwritten factors of 1, what is the sum of the numerical factors in the expression below?

−4(x−2)+(x−2)7−(x+5)(x−2)+(x−2)9+(−3)(x−2)
I think it's x= -9.

Solve 3(k−4)=18.
I think it's k = -7

Nadia is asked to find a number such that the difference between five times the number and three less than twice the number is equal to eighteen. Her work and answer are shown below.

5n−(3−2n) = 18
5n−3+2n = 18
7n−3 = 18
7n = 21
n=3
Is Nadia correct? If not, identify and correct her error.
I think she's correct.

A liquid is being poured at a rate of 15 gallons per minute. How fast is it being poured in liters per hour? Use the fact that one gallon is approximately 3.785 liters, and do not round your answer.
I think it's 3406.5 liters per hour.
Complete the input-output table below for f(x)=2(x−1)2−4
My answers: (0,0) (1, 3) (2, 6) (3,9)

The function p(s)=−10s2+110s−180 represents a company's profit p made on selling a product for s dollars per unit. Calculate and interpret p(6).
I think the company's profit from selling their product for 6$ per unit is $120.

An airplane begins decreasing its altitude as it approaches the runway. At time t=1, the pilot notes that he has an altitude of 30,000 feet. One minute later, his altitude drops to 29,450 feet. One minute after that, his altitude drops to 28,900 feet. Assuming this pattern continues, write a recursive formula for the altitude of the plane A(t) after t minutes.
I think it's A(t)=30000+550(t−1)

Determine the key features of a function whose value is defined as six less than triple some quantity.
My answer: the slope is 1/3 the x-coordinate of the x-intercept is 3 and the Y-intercept is -6.

The temperature in Celsius along a rod is given by T=3+4x, where x is measured in centimeters to the right of the center of the rod. Interpret the slope of the equation.
I think When moving from left to right, the temperature increases by four degrees for each centimeter.

Let y=101.3−0.012x represent the air pressure in kilopascals for an elevation x relative to sea level in meters. Interpret the x-intercept.
I think The x-intercept does not have any practical meaning for this situation.

Jordan is paying off a car loan. The function that models how much he has left to pay on his loan, P, is P(m)=6000−300m, where m is the number of months since Jordan took out the loan. What was the original amount of the loan?
I think it's $18,000.

Given the equation y−1=m(x+1), which of the following sample points will result in a different value of m compared to the other three?
i think its (0,−2/3)

Which of the following inequalities has a solution set of x>4?
I think it's 5(x+1)>2(x−1)+3

A florist is looking to make arrangements of red and white roses for bouquets. The flowers are priced so that she makes a profit of $1.25 per red rose and $1.00 per white rose in a bouquet. Her goal is to make at least $1000 from sales of these bouquets. Based on her available time and supplies of red and white roses, she is considering two possibilities: 130 bouquets of 4 red roses and 3 white roses each or 110 bouquets of 3 red roses and 5 white roses each. Will either of these possibilities turn the profit the florist is seeking?
I think it's Only the 130 bouquets of 4 red roses and 3 white roses each will turn the profit the florist is seeking.

Two siblings are racing. The older sibling can run at a constant speed of 11 feet per second. The younger sibling can run at a constant speed of 7 feet per second. If the younger sibling is given a 32-foot head start in the race, how long will it take the older sibling to catch the younger sibling, and how far will the older sibling have run at that moment?
I think the older sibling will catch the younger sibling after 10 Seconds and running 110 feet.

Brenda is selling two different nut mixes as snacks. Mix A has 3 oz. of cashews and 7 oz. of almonds. Mix B has 6 oz. of cashews and 5 oz. of almonds. Which inequalities represent the number of mix A mixes, A, and mix B mixes, B, Brenda can make if she has 72 oz. of cashews and 84 oz. of almonds?
I think it's 6A+3B≤72
5A+7B≤84

An absolute value function with a vertex of (4,14) is negative on the interval (−∞,−2). On what other interval is the function negative?
I think it's (9, {infinity})

Describe how f(x−4)−6 transforms the graph of f(x).
I think the transformation if f(x-4)-6 shifts the graph of f(x) 4 Units down and 6 units right.

The graph of f(x)=x√ is reflected across the x-axis, stretched vertically by a factor of 2, and then shifted 5 units up and 3 units to the left. Which of the following points is on the graph of the transformation?
I think it's (−5,3)

The cube root function is transformed by reflecting it across the x-axis, stretching that result vertically by a factor of 2, and shifting that result up 5 units and to the left 3 units. Which of the following points is on the graph of the transformation?
I think it's (−3,4)

Please help! im very unsure of these answers and the textbook doesn't provide enough examples to practice!

Thanks oobleck! Like i said, the textbooks examples are different from what we're being teached, so most of my equations are far off because i couldn't get enough practice and accurate practice.

not sure what you mean by the "numerical factors" of a polynomial.

−4(x−2)+(x−2)7−(x+5)(x−2)+(x−2)9+(−3)(x−2) = 9(x-2) - (x+5)(x-2)
Maybe you could show how you arrived at -9, so I can see what this means to you.

Solve 3(k−4)=18
k-4 = 6
k = 10

Nadia is incorrect.
"three less than twice the number" means 2n-3, not 3-2n

15gal/min * 60min/hr * 3.785L/gal = 3406.5 L/hr
you are correct

If you mean f(x) = 2(x−1)^2−4 then
f(0) = 2(-1)^2 - 4 = 2-4 = -2
f(1) = 2(0)^2 -4 = -4
and so on
How ever did you arrive at your answers?

p(6) is 120
you are correct

The plane is descending, so you should have written
A(t)=30000 - 550(t−1)
But that is not a recursive formula. That would have been something like
A(1) = 30000
A(n+1) = A(n) - 550

six less than triple some quantity.
y = 3x-6
so the slope is 3 and the intercepts are (0,-6) and (2,0)

you are correct about the temperature of the rod

They told you that "elevation x relative to sea level"
so the x-intercept is the altitude where the air pressure is effectively zero.

P(m)=6000−300m
Clearly, the original amount is when m=0 -- when he haas made no [ayments. That is, $6000

y−1=m(x+1)
No points given. But this is the line with slope m through the point (-1,1)

5(x+1)>2(x−1)+3
You say that obeys x>4. That is true, but in fact, if you work out your inequality,
5x+5 > 2x-2+3
3x > -4
x > -4/3
I suspect there were better choices given

you are correct on the roses, but I have no way of knowing yhow you arrived at your answer.

You want 11x = 32 + 7x
x = 8 seconds and 88 feet
Not sure how you got 10 seconds

On the nuts, read it again. You have A and B exactly backwards.

The absolute value function is symmetric about the line x = 4
-2 is 4-6
so you want x > 4+6 = 10, not 9

the shift is correct

with f(x) = √x, the transformations give you -2√(x+3)+5
that means (0,0) would correspond to (-3,-5)
Not sure what other points you were given

Looks like you have some reviewing to do.

How ever did you get k = -7?
