If I add aluminum foil on the lid of a camping cooler, would that reduce sunlight radiating into the contents or would it heat up the contents (since foil is a conductor of heat)?

And what are ways of preventing radiation heat transfer into the cooler? I think a lid and just being contained in a box protects it from radiation?
