Hello! For my Algebra Class, I need to predict the price of an item in one decade. I already have a percent I want to increase the number by, however, I'm sorta confused as to how to increase the number by the percent. The lesson was sort of confusing, so help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

If you want to increase something by 18% , multiply it by 1.18

If you want to increase something by 7% , multiply it by 1.07
If you want to increase something by 12.5% , multiply it by 1.125

do you get the idea?

Thank you so much! I do! Thank you!!!

Hello! I'd be happy to help you with that. To increase a number by a certain percent, you can follow these steps:

1. Convert the percentage to its decimal form by dividing it by 100. For example, if you want to increase the number by 20%, divide 20 by 100 to get 0.20.

2. Multiply the original number by the decimal form of the percentage. For example, if the original number is 100 and you want to increase it by 20%, multiply 100 by 0.20. The result is 20.

3. Add the result from step 2 to the original number. Using the previous example, add 20 to 100. The final result is 120.

So, if you want to predict the price of an item in one decade and you have a specific percentage you want to increase it by, you can use the above steps to calculate the predicted price.
