How would you name the compound P4?
1 answer
I would call it phosphorus, just as I call O2 oxygen, H2 hydrogen, F2 fluorine, etc. But I know oxygen occurs as the diatomic molecule, hydrogen as the diatomic molecule, etc. However, I don't think the name tetraphosphorus is incorrect.
