Gabriella went skiing. She paid $35 to rent skis and $15 an our to ski. If she paid a total of $95, how many hours did she ski? Write an equation to represent the situation and solve it.
I don't understand this. I did this problem before and my teacher said my answer was wrong. Please someone help me! Thank You.
Never mind this is the answer: The total cost is $15 an hour plus the $35 rental
c = 15h + 35
plug in the $95 total cost
95 = 15h + 35
Subtract 35 from both side
60 = 15h
Divide both sides by 15
4 = h
h = 4
She skied 4 hours
35 + 15x = 95
15x = 60
x = 4 hours
