Homework Help: Math 6

A bag of oranges weighs 5 1/4 pounds. How much does 1 1/2 bags weigh?

Ok, so this is what I did : made each into improper fraction liket his. 23/4 x 3/2 = 69/8.

Now, I divide 69/8 and I come up with 62 5/8

right ?

Does your answer make sense to you?

5 1/4 = 21/4

(21/4) * (3/2) = 63/8 = 7 7/8 pounds
