Ok, so this is what I did : made each into improper fraction liket his. 23/4 x 3/2 = 69/8.
Now, I divide 69/8 and I come up with 62 5/8
right ?

5 1/4 = 21/4
(21/4) * (3/2) = 63/8 = 7 7/8 pounds

to be honest the person who posted this is not the brightest in math but when you make the mixed fractions into improper fractions 5 1/4 will be turned into 21/4 while 1 1/2 will be tranformed into 3/2 then you multiply giving you the answer 63/8 if you need to simplify then 63 divided by 8 your final answer should be 7 7/8

There isn't a specific answer it's where you have to explain it but this is how I explained it.
after converting 5 1/4 and 1 1/2 into improper fractions you get 21/4 and 3/2 next you multiply both of those and get 63/8 and to simplify it divide 63 by 8 and get 7 and 7/8
