number of reds = 3x
number of yellows = 4x
after the eating:
number of reds = 3x-3
number of yellows = 4x - 6
(3x-3)/(4x-6) = 4/5
16x - 24 = 15x - 15
x = 9
in original:
reds = 3(9) = 27
yellows = 4(9) = 36
total in jar = 63
check: 27 : 36 = 3 : 4
after eating: 24 : 30 = 4 : 5
