A STORE SOLD 18 SWEATSHIRTS. WHITE ONES COST $9.95 AND YELLOW ONES COST $11.50. IF $202.35 WORTH OF SWEATSHIRTS WERE SOLD, HOW MANY OF EACH WERE SOLD?

Let x = # of white and y = # of yellow.
x = 18 y
9.95x + 11.5y = 202.35
Substitute 18y for x in second equation and solve for y. Insert that value into the first equation and solve for x. Check by inserting both values into the second equation.
