this is how i worked it out:
2(12-8x)=x-11x
24-16x=1x-11x
-1x
24-16x= -12x
-(-12)
24=-4x
-6=x

Here's your mistake.
24-16x=1x-11x
24 - 16x = -10x
24 = -10x + 16x
24 = 6x
24/6 = x
4 = x
2(12-8x)=x-11x
24-16x=1x-11x
-1x
24-16x= -12x 24 - 16x = -10x
-(-12) 24 = 6x
24=-4x x = 4
-6=x
