how do laws increase an individuals freedom in society?

well i think that they give an individual peace of mind and security.
but i'm not sure how to expand this answer or what else to add to it.

You're right.
With traffic laws, we can drive our cars safely.
We can be safe in our homes, knowing that the law is on our side and police are close by.
Mandatory education laws assure that every child goes to school.
I'm sure you can think of additional examples.

i can think of the examples for that one point, but i'm not sure what other points i can add in order to answer my question. i'm not exactly sure how laws can actually increase someones freedom.
