Standards-based education can sometimes put pressure on teachers to be sure they 'measure-up' to the expectations of state standards.
How can teacher accountability have a positive and a negative influence on the classroom environment? Respond to classmates' post from a parent perspective.

Just measuring knowledge at a particular level can be counterproductive for the students' overall education. It may not leave time for the "fun" projects that capture the students' interests in the subject. If the work is all drudgery, the student may turn off on the subject and refuse to take any more classes in it.

A parent may see the decrease in their child's interest. They may also see discouragement if the student doesn't test well.
