Homework Help: Math

Posted by Max on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 10:48pm.

Solve the inequality. Then graph the solution on a number line.

-16 is less than or equal to 2x = 8<10

I'm going to assume your problem was meant to be this:

-16 ≤ 2x + 8 < 10

If so, start by subtracting 8 on all sides:

-16 - 8 ≤ 2x + 8 - 8 < 10 - 8

-24 ≤ 2x < 2

Now divide everything by 2 to get x by itself:

-24/2 ≤ 2x/2 < 2/2

-12 ≤ x < 1

Graph on a number line.

I hope this will help.
