Need help on this one. You have a spinner numbered 1 through 8. What is the probability of spinning a factor of 4 and a multiple of 2?

I know the first part would be 3/8 * _ but them I'm not sure for the second fraction if it would be 4/8 or 2/8.
Thanks

From the way you have defined the problem, you cannot satisfy both criteria in one spin, unless they indicate the same number.

2, 4, 6, and 8 are multiples of 2. 4 = 2 * 2, so 2 is a factor of 4.

2 is one of the 8 alternatives = 1/8

To find the probability of spinning a factor of 4 and a multiple of 2 on the spinner, let's break it down step by step:

Step 1: Determine the factors of 4.
The factors of 4 are 1, 2, and 4.

Step 2: Determine the multiples of 2.
The multiples of 2 are 2, 4, 6, and 8.

Step 3: Find the common elements (numbers that appear in both lists).
The common elements are 2 and 4.

Step 4: Determine the favorable outcomes (the numbers that are both factors of 4 and multiples of 2).
In this case, the favorable outcomes are 2 and 4.

Step 5: Calculate the probability.
The spinner has 8 equally likely outcomes (numbers 1 through 8). Since there are only 2 favorable outcomes (2 and 4), the probability can be calculated as:

Probability = (Number of favorable outcomes) / (Total number of outcomes)
= 2 / 8
= 1/4

Therefore, the probability of spinning a factor of 4 and a multiple of 2 on the spinner is 1/4.
