Here is the abstract of the article..

Re-examined the relationship between the Oxford Happiness Inventory (OHI) and both gender and Eysenck's dimensional model of personality by giving attention to the performance of the individual items as well as to the overall scale score. 121 male and 335 female students completed both the OHI and the short form Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. OHI scale scores were found to be positively related to extraversion and negatively related to neuroticism, but unrelated to psychoticism; gender differences were not found. Results confirm the internal reliability of the Oxford Happiness Inventory and support the view that "happiness is a thing called stable extraversion". Based on the title of the article, "Happiness is a thing called stable extraversion: a further examination of the relationship between the Oxford Happiness Inventory and Eysenck's dimensional model of personality and gender," it is reasonable to assume that the independent variables are personality traits (specifically, stable extraversion) and gender.

The dependent variable, on the other hand, is likely to be happiness scores.

Therefore, your prediction that the independent variables are personality and gender, and the dependent variable is scores, appears to be correct.
