Please help me understand this

Explain the transformation of jurgis character throughout the jungle. How did his morals, actions and attitude change as he experienced events during his life?

I assume you're asking about Jurgis in Upton Sinclair's The Jungle. This site should help you.

I assume you have read the Sinclair Lewis' book, The Jungle.

Where did Jurgis start from? What happened to him when he got to America? What happened to his wife? Think on his morals and actions during that time. How did it end?

So, the assignment is to explain how he changed, and why.

Sue is right, Upton Sinclair. Somehow Sinclair Lewis came to mind. Really they came from the same period. Sinclair Lewis won a Nobel Prize for his works, Elmer Gantry was a great character study.

Okay I'm so stuck on how to write this essay, I just need some ideas.

Make a chart.

What he was before, how he view life.

What happened to him? Why? How did he react?

Why did his wife die? How did he react to that?

What happened when the went to the "meeting"?

How did that make him feel?

Put yourself in his shoes in each time period of his life....think like him...how are you doing...how do you feel...where are you going (ie, do you have a purpose in life?)..

You can do this. I am assuming you read the book.

Okay thank you! One last question, what does it mean by "moral" like how should I write about that?

Moral= his thinking what actions are right, and what actions are wrong.
