In English class, I have to write a 2 voice poem. My teacher said that I am supposed to make it 10 lines longs on each side. Does that mean that it is supposed to go back and forth 10 times or each side has to have 10 lines? (What I mean by that is that just like in this question, after each line runs out of room, it starts a next line. Is it supposed to be like that or does it have to go back a forth 10 times?) Thanks ahead of time!

Each side has to have 10 lines.

Which type of line? I mentioned 2 earlier.

Oh. A "line" can take more than one line of type.

Here is an example of a two-voice poem. As you can see, there are far more than 10 lines each, but the back-and-forth is as you described above.

It's rather a fun poem to read!

In a 2 voice poem, each side typically represents a different voice or perspective. When your teacher says that it should be 10 lines long on each side, it means that each side should have 10 lines. You do not have to go back and forth 10 times. Instead, you will write 10 lines representing one voice or perspective on one side, and 10 lines representing the other voice or perspective on the other side.

To clarify further, imagine dividing your paper into two columns. In the left column, you will write 10 lines representing one voice, and in the right column, you will write 10 lines representing the other voice. Each line does not necessarily have to be a complete sentence or thought. It can be a fragment or a complete sentence, depending on the structure and style you choose for your poem.

Remember, the key is to create a dialogue or conversation between the two voices, capturing their distinct perspectives or emotions. You can use this format to explore contrasting ideas, highlight similarities, or create a poetic conversation.
