what is the expression for the factored form of 1/4y^2-36?

I got (1/4y-6)(1/4y+6)
Is this correct?
Thanks for checking my work

front part is wrong, back end is correct

should be

((1/2)y - 6)((1/2)y + 6) OR (y/2 - 6)(y/2 + 6)

since (1/2)(1/2) = 1/4

If I expand your answer my leading term would be (1/16)y^2

thanks for the help

To check if your factored form is correct, you can expand it and see if it simplifies back to the original expression. Let's expand the expression (1/4y-6)(1/4y+6):

(1/4y - 6)(1/4y + 6)
= (1/4y)(1/4y) + (1/4y)(6) + (-6)(1/4y) + (-6)(6)
= 1/16y^2 + 6/4y - 6/4y - 36
= 1/16y^2 - 36.

As you can see, the expanded form does indeed simplify back to the original expression, 1/4y^2 - 36. Therefore, your factored form (1/4y-6)(1/4y+6) is correct. Well done!
