can someone correct this for me.

The pie that i'm using looks like this:
it says that second day airfrieght is 40%
next day airfrieght is 15%
truck is 45%

The problem says:
If the company shipped a total of 550 items last month, how many were shipped using second-day airfreight?

My answer:

550- 40%= 220 were shipped using the second-day airfreight

Is the pie chart designed to show how items were shipped? If so, that means 40% were shipped using second day air freight, 15% were shipped using next day air freight, and 45% were shipped by truck. Then 550*40%=550*0.40 = 220 items were shipped by second day air freight. The minus sign in your equation is not correct but you multiplied correctly.

thank you drbob222

To clarify, the correct calculation would be:

550 * 0.40 = 220

So, 220 items were shipped using second-day airfreight.
