Find the area of the composite figure.

Square with missing top corner.

12in prarel to 10in

top 14in
bottom 20in.

All of little boxes on the three showm corners.

I did this.

Find area of rectangle

A= lxw
14 x 12 = 168 in.

Find triangle area

A = 1/2 x b xh
A= 1/2 x 12 x 10 = 60 in.

168+60 = 228 in squared

Where am I wrong? I think the rectangle is right, but not the triangle.

The correct answer is 234 in squared but I don't know how ?

thanks

So, is 234 right or 228?

To find the area of the composite figure, you correctly calculated the area of the rectangle as 168 square inches. However, the calculation for the triangle area is incorrect.

To re-calculate the triangle's area, you need to identify the base and height. In this case, the base is the bottom side of the triangle, which has a length of 10 inches. The height is the vertical distance from the base to the top corner, which is missing.

Since the given information does not provide the height of the missing triangle, it is not possible to accurately calculate its area. Therefore, we cannot proceed with finding the total area of the composite figure.
