Could somebody please explain why in gaseous reaction the collision frequency between molecules is far greater than the rate at which molecules react?

Thanks! :)

Molecules may collide but there is no reaction unless the energy requirements are met. So molecule A at a very slow speed may collide with molecule B at a very low speed and they simply bounce off each other an go along their merry way because there isn't enough energy to dissociate one of them or form an intermediate or etc. .
