I think a good thesis would be:

Brave New World reflects a dystopia, not a utopia.

But it says.. discuss the society in Brave new world as a utopia. So don't you think the thesis should be more detailed and well structured.

Not necessarily. The body of your paper should set forth at least three arguments supporting your thesis.

Check the website about thesis statements that I posted for you.

Have you checked the definitions of utopia and dystopia?

yes I understand that, I checked the sites out and they say first step is to pick up a topic, which in this case is what I don't understand, then ask a question regarding the topic than answer the question and finally reword the answer. So can u plzzzz help me with the intro.. So far I have:

Imagine what a perfect society would be like? Everyone would be happy. No war, no fights. This is exactly how the society in Brave New World is portrayed by Aldous Huxley. Although the novel itself is dystopian, the society in it is shown as a utopian society. This book written by Aldous Huxley concentrates on the development of mankind in a future society.

Please help me figure out the best thesis and the best arguments:( Please ms.sue....I desperately need ur help.

This a good thesis.

"Although the novel itself is dystopian, the society in it is shown as a utopian society. "

Now you need at least three good reasons why it's utopian rather than dystopian. You'll explain these in the body of your paper.

It can be a utopia since each individual is happy..right?

But that is only one can u help me wid the other 2? and putting it all in a sentence...

Ms.Sue!!! This is worth 15% it is a summative:( My life stinks...I need ur guidance..

Doesn't the planned economy seem to make it a utopia? No one is poor. No one thinks he or she is discriminated against. What other advantages do yu see?

hmm.. well I don't know I cant think of any more...at the end how do I put it into a level 4 sentence including what I will be writing about in the body:(

When formulating your thesis statement for an essay discussing the society in Brave New World as a utopia, it is important to consider the arguments and evidence you will present in your essay. Here are a few suggestions for a well-structured and detailed thesis statement:

1. Despite its appearance of perfection, the society presented in Brave New World is ultimately a dystopia due to its lack of individual freedom, suppression of emotions, and manipulation of human nature.

Explanation: In this thesis statement, you establish that despite the initial perception of utopia, the society in Brave New World is flawed. This thesis can be further supported by discussing the absence of personal choice, the suppression of emotions and free will, and the manipulation of human nature through genetic engineering and conditioning.

2. The seemingly perfect society in Brave New World can be viewed as a utopia from the perspective of stability, efficiency, and hedonistic pleasure, but its lack of human connection, true happiness, and personal fulfillment deems it a dystopia.

Explanation: This thesis statement acknowledges the positive aspects of the society in Brave New World while highlighting its underlying flaws. It allows you to discuss the stability and efficiency achieved by the suppression of emotions and the emphasis on pleasure, but also provides room to argue that genuine human connection, true happiness, and personal fulfillment are crucial for a utopian society.

3. Although the society depicted in Brave New World may appear utopian due to the absence of disease, poverty, and conflict, the lack of individuality, choice, and fulfillment of higher human needs ultimately renders it a dystopia.

Explanation: This thesis statement highlights the absence of traditional societal problems and the initial appearance of utopia in Brave New World. However, it also focuses on the consequences of the society's emphasis on conformity and the suppression of individuality. You can support this thesis by discussing how the absence of personal freedom, choice, and opportunities for self-actualization contribute to the overall negative depiction of the society.

Remember, the thesis statement is the foundation of your essay and should clearly state your main argument. It should be detailed and well-structured, providing a solid framework for discussing the society in Brave New World as a utopia or dystopia.
