An iron railroad track 1000 feet long is at a temperature of 0 oC. How much does it expand when heated to 33 oC?

deltaLength=1000ft*coeffexpansion*33

look up the coefficent of linear expansion for STEEL (railroad tracks are steel, not iron), figure delta length, add that to the original 1000ft

It scares me to think of a train running on a pure iron track at 0C.
