i'm going to add punctuation on my paper. and my English teacher told me to start the answer with part of the question, so that's what i did. if you have a better idea with how to start an answer, i would love to see it.

"with a close call" means that they were almost killed.

CAN YOU PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTIONS????

I suggest you omit the words, "The summary of . . ."

We're teachers and believe writing substandard English without capitalization and punctuation is not appropriate on an academic forum. When you write anything for others to read, you should always put your best foot forward. That means writing standard English.

Your summary is o.k. Writeacher gave you some ideas to build on for your second answer. What part does Poseidon play in this story?

1. The conflict between Odysseus and the Cyclops, specifically Polyphemus, is a famous episode from Homer's epic poem, the Odyssey. Odysseus and his men find themselves trapped inside the Cyclops' cave after seeking shelter during their voyage home from the Trojan War. The Cyclops, being a giant and ferocious one-eyed creature, devours some of Odysseus' crew members. To escape, Odysseus devises a plan to blind the Cyclops by offering him wine and then jabbing him in the eye with a wooden stake while he sleeps. After Odysseus and his surviving men escape from the Cyclops' cave, Odysseus taunts Polyphemus, revealing his true identity, which leads to a curse being placed on him by the Cyclops.

2. In the Odyssey, the sea and the role of Poseidon are significant in several ways. Firstly, the sea acts as a physical obstacle for Odysseus and his crew, as they face numerous challenges and dangers during their long journey back to their homeland, Ithaca. These challenges include encounters with mythical creatures, like the Cyclops, sirens, and sea monsters. The sea, with its unpredictable and treacherous nature, symbolizes the hardships and tests that Odysseus must overcome.

Additionally, Poseidon, the god of the sea, plays a crucial role in the narrative. He holds a grudge against Odysseus for blinding his son, the Cyclops Polyphemus, and intervenes numerous times to hinder Odysseus' journey and prolong his suffering. Poseidon's actions represent the theme of divine intervention and the power of the gods to influence human fates. Furthermore, Poseidon's wrath reflects the ancient belief in the consequences of offending the divine, as Odysseus' punishment for his actions against the Cyclops directly relates to his prolonged and difficult voyage home.

1. Are you clear on what "summarize" means? This is not a difficult question.

2. Odysseus spent 10 years returning home from Troy. It's a journey that should have taken about 2 months max! How was he making this journey? Over land? On the sea? Both?
