I'd like to clarify my previous question. Do you think it's OK to use "before" in the context: "The kids will not calm down before I buy this toy"? (Meaning: the kids will behave normally / will stop being naughty only when / after I buy this toy.)

Then Ms. Sue's earlier suggestion is correct -- "before" doesn't work, so use "until" in its place.
