I have to solve this inequality, but i forget how to do it. I remember your supposed to do something special when your like subtracting a negative from both sides? Y-5>-6

Someone answer my question, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks, EMILY:)

Nothing special happens when you add or subtract with inequations.

You are thinking about multiplying and dividing by negatives

If you multiply or divide each term of an inequation by a negative number, you must reverse the inequality sign
e.g.

3x > 12
x > 4

but
-5x < 25
x > -5

for yours
Y-5>-6 just add 5 to both sides
y > -6 + 5
y > -1

To solve the inequality y - 5 > -6, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Add 5 to both sides of the inequality to isolate y.
(y - 5) + 5 > -6 + 5
This simplifies to:
y > -1

Step 2: Simplify the inequality as much as possible.
The inequality y > -1 tells us that y is greater than -1.

Therefore, the solution to the given inequality is y > -1.
