1 + 1 = 2
1 + 10 = 11
And I guess we could make a joke about 1 + 1 being 11 if we were so inclined.

What an interesting question. I've often wondered what 1 + 1 equals myself. Lets take a familiar path and find out.
1--Let x = 1
2--Multiplying both sides of our equation by -4 yields -4x = -(4)1
3--Adding (4)1 to both sides brings us to -4x + (4)1 = 0
4--Adding x^2 to both sides yields x^2 -4x + (4)1 = x^2
5--Factoring, (x - 2(1))^2 = x^2
6--Taking the square root of both sides yields (x - 2(1)) = x
7--Substituting x = 1 results in +1 - 2(1) = +1
8--Simplifying, -1(1) = +1
9--Adding 1 to both sides, 0 = 1 + 1. Check my math.
I am just as surprised as you. But, if you believe this, then I have a bridge I would like to sell you.
All kidding aside and being honest, we "both" know that 1 + 1 = 2. Knowing that, we would deeply appreciate it if you would not post meaningless problems of this sort on the message boards as it wastes our valuable time and detracts from our addressing far more important problems posted by those in need of real help.
