multiplying mixed numbers

4 3/5 x 2/3= 23/5 x 2/3= 46/15?

I am not sure it this is right I know that I can't simplify it, so I am thinking that it is 46/15

It is correct unless they want the number written as a mixed number and not an improper fraction.

You could divide 46 by 15 and that would be 3 with 1/15 left over.

thank you

To multiply mixed numbers, you can follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Convert the mixed numbers into improper fractions.
- In this case, the mixed numbers are 4 3/5 and 2/3.
- To convert 4 3/5 into an improper fraction, multiply 4 by the denominator (5) and add the numerator (3). This gives you 23.
- The improper fraction for 4 3/5 is therefore 23/5.
- To convert 2/3 into an improper fraction, the numerator remains the same (2) and the denominator remains the same (3).

2. Multiply the numerators (top numbers) together to get the new numerator.
- In this case, the numerators of 23/5 and 2/3 are 23 and 2.
- Multiply them: 23 * 2 = 46.

3. Multiply the denominators (bottom numbers) together to get the new denominator.
- In this case, the denominators of 23/5 and 2/3 are 5 and 3.
- Multiply them: 5 * 3 = 15.

4. Simplify the resulting fraction, if possible.
- In this case, 46/15 cannot be simplified further since there are no common factors other than 1.

Therefore, your answer is correct: 4 3/5 x 2/3 = 46/15.
