Hello! I am needing some help on Algebra! It is hard !

Can you explain how to Simplify Algebraic Expressions? The easiest way? I have a test over it Friday, and i can't understand it at all!
Can you help with these and explain?
-12z+4(z-9)+30+z
and
4(y-3)+9-3y

-12z+4(z-9)+30+z

Combine like terms.

-12z + 4z - 36 + 30 + z

-7z - 6

Follow the same procedure for the next problem. I'll be glad to check your answer.

4(y-3)+9-3y

I come out and get

4y-12+9-3y

What do I do now? I'm so confused! I don't know it !:(

Now combine like terms.

4y-12+9-3y

4y - 3y = y
9 - 12 = -3

4y-12+9-3y = y - 3

Now how would I do this? This is so confusing.

LUNCH You bought 3 pieces of chicken that cost x dollars each, a salad for $3, and a drink for $1.

Hello! I'm here to help you with simplifying algebraic expressions. Simplifying algebraic expressions involves combining like terms and using the distributive property.

Let's start with the expression -12z + 4(z - 9) + 30 + z:
1. First, distribute the 4 to the terms inside the parentheses: -12z + 4z - 36 + 30 + z
This simplifies to: -12z + 4z - 6 + z
2. Next, combine the like terms. The terms with z are like terms, so we can combine them: -12z + 4z + z = -7z
The constant terms are also like terms, so we can combine them: -6 + 30 = 24
3. Putting it all together, the simplified expression is: -7z + 24

Now, let's move on to the expression 4(y - 3) + 9 - 3y:
1. First, distribute the 4 to the terms inside the parentheses: 4y - 12 + 9 - 3y
This simplifies to: 4y - 3y - 3
2. Next, combine the like terms. The terms with y are like terms, so we can combine them: 4y - 3y = y
The constant terms are also like terms, so we can combine them: -12 + 9 = -3
3. Putting it all together, the simplified expression is: y - 3

To simplify algebraic expressions, always make sure to:

1. Distribute any multiplication or division across the terms inside parentheses.
2. Combine like terms, which means adding or subtracting terms with the same variable and exponent.

I hope this explanation helps you understand how to simplify algebraic expressions! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Good luck on your test!
