Find the slope and y-intercept.

2y+4x=3(y-x)+8
Please explain the procedure!

2 y + 4 x = 3 ( y - x ) + 8

2 y + 4 x = 3 y - 3 x + 8 Subtract 4 x to both sides

2 y + 4 x - 4 x = 3 y - 3 x + 8 - 4 x

2 y = 3 y - 7 x + 8 Subtract 3 y to both sides

2 y - 3 y = 3 y - 7 x + 8 - 3 y

- y = - 7 x + 8 Multiply both sides by - 1

y = 7 x - 8

A straight line on the coordinate plane can be described by the equation :

y = m x + b

where m is the slope of the line

and

b is the y - intercept

In this case m = slope = 7

b = y - intercept = - 8 ( Point with coordinates x = 0 , y = - 8
