1. Why does North America and Asia consume so much petroleum?

I would guess that it is because these two areas produce so many things.

2. What factors would prevent petroleum trade between regions?

I'm really not sure but i am guessing it has something to with the consumption?

Can someone check these or add to my answers? Thanks so much. And the new layout of the site is very cool by the way.

North America and Asia consume a lot of petroleum, partly because they produce so much and also because of the sheer numbers of people on these continents. In addition, individuals in the U.S. are dependent upon "the comforts of life," which need huge amounts of petroleum.

Wars and civil unrest can prevent petroleum trade between regions.
