Answer the following questions using the data you collected in the lab:

Trial #1 Trial #2 Trial #3
Calculate the mass (g) of alka-seltzer in each capsule :

Trial #1 Trial #2 Trial #3
Calculate the mass (g) of NaHCO3 reacted in each sample :

Trial #1 Trial #2 Trial #3
Calculate the percent mass of NaHCO3 in each sample (%):

Calculate the average percent mass of NaHCO3 in the sample.

Some of this I'm sure you know how to do? If you want to show the experiment perhaps we can help you through it but no one here will write your lab report for you.

Im not sure how to do these questions though

We don't know what you're doing. No directions. You didn't write the procedure you are using therefore I can help you. If you want to post the procedure I suggest you post a new question at the top of the page.

To answer the questions, we'll need to use the given data from the experiments.

1) Calculate the mass (g) of alka-seltzer in each capsule:
To find the mass of alka-seltzer in each capsule, we need to subtract the mass of the empty capsule (gelatin capsule) from the mass of the capsule with alka-seltzer.

For Trial #1:
Mass of alka-seltzer = Mass of capsule + alka-seltzer sample - Mass of gelatin capsule
= 0.822 g - 0.123 g
= 0.699 g

Similarly, you can calculate the mass of alka-seltzer in each capsule for Trial #2 and Trial #3 using the same formula.

2) Calculate the mass (g) of NaHCO3 reacted in each sample:
To find the mass of NaHCO3 reacted in each sample, we need to subtract the mass of the unreacted alka-seltzer (measured by the mass of the alka-seltzer itself) from the mass of the alka-seltzer sample.

For Trial #1:
Mass of NaHCO3 reacted = Mass of capsule + alka-seltzer sample - Mass of alka-seltzer
= 0.822 g - 0.699 g
= 0.123 g

Calculate the mass of NaHCO3 reacted for Trial #2 and Trial #3 using the same formula.

3) Calculate the percent mass of NaHCO3 in each sample (%):
To find the percent mass of NaHCO3 in each sample, we need to divide the mass of NaHCO3 reacted by the mass of the alka-seltzer sample, and then multiply by 100.

For Trial #1:
Percent mass of NaHCO3 = (Mass of NaHCO3 reacted / Mass of alka-seltzer sample) * 100
= (0.123 g / 0.822 g) * 100
= 14.95%

Calculate the percent mass of NaHCO3 for Trial #2 and Trial #3 using the same formula.

4) Calculate the average percent mass of NaHCO3 in the sample:
To find the average percent mass of NaHCO3 in the sample, we need to calculate the mean of the percent values obtained from the three trials.

Average percent mass of NaHCO3 = (Percent mass of NaHCO3 in Trial #1 + Percent mass of NaHCO3 in Trial #2 + Percent mass of NaHCO3 in Trial #3) / 3

Use the previously calculated percent mass values to find the average percent mass of NaHCO3 in the sample.
