Math word problem: There are 25 students in Mrs. Roberts 3rd grade class. There are 9 more boys than girls in the class. How many boys and girls are in Mrs. Robert's class.

asked by Lisa
  1. Let x = the number of girls.

    x + x + 9 = 25

    2x = 25 - 9

    2x = 16

    x = 16/2

    x = 8
