I'm stuck on this question please help.

"GK bisects angle FGH".
If angle FGK=8v-2 and angle KGH=3v+3,find angle
FGH.
PLEASE HELP ME

Well, doesn't it say that they are equal ?? What does "bisect" mean ?

8v-2 = 3v+3
5v = 5
v=1

so 8v-2 = 6
and 3v+3 = 6

so I guess the big angle is 12

Bisect mea

ns half

To find the measure of angle FGH, we need to use the fact that GK bisects angle FGH.

When a line bisects an angle, it divides the angle into two congruent angles. Therefore, angle FGK is equal to angle KGH.

We have the following information:

angle FGK = 8v - 2
angle KGH = 3v + 3

Since angle FGK is equal to angle KGH, we can set up an equation:

8v - 2 = 3v + 3

Now, we can solve for v:

8v - 3v = 3 + 2

5v = 5

v = 1

Now that we have found the value of v, we can substitute it back into either equation to find the measure of angle FGK or KGH.

Using angle FGK:

angle FGK = 8v - 2
angle FGK = 8(1) - 2
angle FGK = 8 - 2
angle FGK = 6

Since angle FGK is equal to angle KGH, angle KGH also measures 6 degrees.

Finally, we can find the measure of angle FGH by adding angle FGK and angle KGH:

angle FGH = angle FGK + angle KGH
angle FGH = 6 + 6
angle FGH = 12

Therefore, the measure of angle FGH is 12 degrees.

To find the measure of angle FGH, you need to use the information given about angle FGK and angle KGH.

Given that angle FGK is 8v - 2 and angle KGH is 3v + 3, you can set up an equation to find v. Since angle FGH is bisected by GK, it means that angle FGK is congruent to angle KGH.

So, you can set up the equation:

8v - 2 = 3v + 3

To find v, you need to solve this equation.

To do that, you can start by isolating the variable on one side of the equation.

In this case, you can subtract 3v from both sides of the equation, and add 2 to both sides of the equation to simplify it:

8v - 3v = 3 + 2

Now, you can combine like terms:

5v = 5

Next, to isolate the variable v, you can divide both sides of the equation by 5:

5v/5 = 5/5

This simplifies to:

v = 1

Now that you have found the value of v, you can substitute it back into either angle FGK or angle KGH to find its measure. Let's substitute it back into angle FGK:

Angle FGK = 8v - 2 = 8(1) - 2 = 8 - 2 = 6

Now that you know angle FGK is equal to 6 degrees, you can find the measure of angle FGH by doubling it since GK bisects angle FGH:

Angle FGH = 2 * angle FGK = 2 * 6 = 12 degrees

Therefore, the measure of angle FGH is 12 degrees.
