In what order would these words be alphabetized?

girls
girl's
girls

Two are alike, so this can't be done right. What is the third one supposed to be.

My plan is to put the three words in a Word file, each on a separate line as you have done above. Then I plan to highlight them and go into the Table menu and click on Sort, then click on OK.

To alphabetize the words "girls," "girl's," and "girls," the correct order would be:

girl's
girls
girls

To achieve this, you can follow these steps in a Word file:

1. Open a new Word document.
2. Enter each word on a separate line:

girl's
girls
girls

3. Highlight all the words you want to sort by clicking and dragging the cursor over them.
4. Go to the "Table" menu at the top of the screen.
5. Click on "Sort."
6. A "Sort Text" dialogue box will appear. Choose "Paragraphs" in the "Type" section.
7. In the "Sort by" dropdown menu, select "Text."
8. Keep the "Ascending" order option selected.
9. Click on "OK."

The words will now be alphabetized in the correct order:

girl's
girls
girls
