I don't understand how u can get 3454 from mutiplying 1,100(3.14)

When i did it i got 1414 The question: is 2(3.14r2 + 2(3.14)rh 2(3.14)(10)2 + 2(3.14)(10)(45) and when i got done with the promblem the answer in book said approximately 3454in2 when i got 1414 from adding and i even got a bigger number buy multiply

. . . . 1100

Since there are two decimal places in the problem, we must have two in the answer.

Therefore, the answer is 3454.00

To do a quick check -- estimate 3 times 1000 is 3,000. Your answer must be a little larger than 3,000

To understand how to get the answer of 3454 from multiplying 1,100(3.14), let me break it down for you.

When you see the expression 1,100(3.14), it means you need to multiply 1,100 by 3.14.

To do this, follow these steps:
1. Start by multiplying the whole number part, which is 1,100, by 3.14
1,100 * 3.14 = 3,454

So the correct answer to 1,100(3.14) is 3,454, not 1,414.

Now, let's move on to the second part of your question. You have the expression 2(3.14r^2 + 2(3.14)rh).

To simplify this expression, you need to perform the calculations inside the brackets first and then proceed with the rest of the expression.

Let's break it into smaller steps:

1. Start with the first term within the brackets: 3.14r^2

This represents the area of a circle with radius r. If the radius value is given, you can substitute it and calculate the area.

For example, if r = 10, then 3.14 * (10^2) = 3.14 * 100 = 314

2. Move on to the second term within the brackets: 2(3.14)rh

This represents the area of the curved surface of a cylinder with radius r and height h. Again, substitute the given values and perform the calculation.

For example, if r = 10 and h = 45, then 2 * 3.14 * 10 * 45 = 2 * 3.14 * 450 = 2826

3. Add the results from step 1 and step 2: 314 + 2826 = 3140

Finally, you need to multiply the result by 2 to get the final answer:

2 * 3140 = 6280 (square inches)

So, the correct answer to the expression 2(3.14r^2 + 2(3.14)rh) is approximately 6,280 square inches, not 3,454.

I hope this explanation helps you understand how to approach these calculations and obtain the correct answers.
