The following table gives the free throws attempted (FTA) and the free throws made (FTM) for the top five players in the NBA for a recent season. Calculate the free throw percentage for each player by writing the FTM over the FTA and converting this fraction to a decimal

FTM FTA
Allan Houston 363 395
Ray Allan 316 345
Steve Nash 308 339
Troy Hudson 208 231
Reggie Miller 207 230

The following table gives the winning percentages of the top five coaches in NFL history. What fraction of his games has each coach won?

Coach Percentage
Don Shula 0.676
George Halas 0.672
Tom Laundry 0.606
Curly Lambeau 0.624
Paul Brown 0.667

FTM FTA

Allan Houston 363 395
-----------------------
If he attempted 395 and made 363 of those, the percentage is
100 * (363/395) = 91.9 %
sports people often write decimal fraction in thousandths and call it percent, like they might call that .919 or even 919 (sports writers may not have had your math class)
That habit makes the next column about coaches pretty incomprehensible. I do not think
Coach Percentage
Don Shula 0.676
really means he won 0.676 percent
they really mean he won
676/1000 or 67.6%
so really they wrote it as a decimal fraction.
You are asked to write it as a fraction so I would write 676/1000
of course you could simplify that fraction for sure since top and bottom are divisible at least by two.

To calculate the free throw percentage for each player, you need to divide the number of free throws made (FTM) by the number of free throws attempted (FTA) and convert the resulting fraction to a decimal.

For Allan Houston:
FTM = 363
FTA = 395
Free Throw Percentage = FTM / FTA = 363 / 395 = 0.9191 (approximately)

For Ray Allan:
FTM = 316
FTA = 345
Free Throw Percentage = FTM / FTA = 316 / 345 = 0.9159 (approximately)

For Steve Nash:
FTM = 308
FTA = 339
Free Throw Percentage = FTM / FTA = 308 / 339 = 0.9080 (approximately)

For Troy Hudson:
FTM = 208
FTA = 231
Free Throw Percentage = FTM / FTA = 208 / 231 = 0.8996 (approximately)

For Reggie Miller:
FTM = 207
FTA = 230
Free Throw Percentage = FTM / FTA = 207 / 230 = 0.9000 (approximately)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To determine what fraction of games each coach has won, you need to convert the winning percentage into a fraction.

For Don Shula:
Percentage = 0.676
To convert this to a fraction, divide 0.676 by 1 (100%):
0.676 / 1 = 676/1000 = 169/250 (after simplification)

For George Halas:
Percentage = 0.672
To convert this to a fraction, divide 0.672 by 1 (100%):
0.672 / 1 = 672/1000 = 168/250 (after simplification)

For Tom Laundry:
Percentage = 0.606
To convert this to a fraction, divide 0.606 by 1 (100%):
0.606 / 1 = 606/1000 = 121/200 (after simplification)

For Curly Lambeau:
Percentage = 0.624
To convert this to a fraction, divide 0.624 by 1 (100%):
0.624 / 1 = 624/1000 = 156/250 (after simplification)

For Paul Brown:
Percentage = 0.667
To convert this to a fraction, divide 0.667 by 1 (100%):
0.667 / 1 = 667/1000 = 133/200 (after simplification)
