Hey, I have here Clinical Protocols in front of me from one of the hospitals. I'm writing up an assignment and need to reference some parts of the protocol. The system that we use in college is Harvard Referencing system but I never referenced protocols before. Any tips? Would i first mention author, date... but what next?

Thanks.

When referencing a clinical protocol using the Harvard Referencing system, you should follow a similar structure as you would for other types of sources. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to reference a clinical protocol:

1. Begin with the author(s) of the protocol. If the protocol has individual authors, list their last name followed by their initials. If the protocol is authored by an organization or hospital, use the name of the organization or hospital as the author.

2. Include the publication date of the protocol. If there is no publication date provided, you can use the year the protocol was last updated or accessed.

3. Provide the title of the protocol. You can either use the specific section or heading of the protocol you are referencing, or you can use the title of the overall document.

4. Add any version or edition information if applicable. Protocols may undergo updates or revisions, so it can be helpful to include the version or edition number or date.

5. If the protocol is part of a larger document or series, such as a hospital protocol manual, you should include the name and edition of the manual as well.

6. Include information about where the clinical protocol can be accessed. If the protocol is available online, provide the full URL or web address. If it is a printed document, include details of where it can be found (e.g., name of the hospital, department, or library).

7. Finally, make sure to properly format your reference according to the Harvard Referencing guidelines, whether you are using in-text citations or a reference list at the end of your assignment.

Here's an example reference using the Harvard Referencing system for a clinical protocol:

Smith, J., Johnson, A., & Harris, M. (Year). Title of Clinical Protocol: Subtitle (Version 1.1). Hospital Name, Department/Unit Name, URL or Location.

Remember to adjust the format and details based on the specific protocol you are referencing.
