The problem really said convert 3 seconds into days. Then the next question was convert 2 inches into yards.

Here is some information for you:

There are 86,400 seconds in one day.

There are 3 feet in one yard = 36 inches in one yard.

3/86,400 = 1/28,800 days.

2/36 = 1/18 inches.

Is this what you wanted?

3 s (1 hr/3600 s)(1 day/24 hr) = 3.472222* 10^-5 days or .000034722222 days

2 in (1 yd/36 in) = (1/18)yd = .0555555 yd

Damon, I got the same answers except I replied using fractions.

sure.

I always multiply by one.
Anything the same top and bottom is one for me
like

(12 inches/1 foot)

is one to me because the same top and bottom

so
if I have 6 feet and want inches

I do

6 ft (12 inches/1 ft)
the foot units cancel, and I am left with 6*12 inches or 72 inches

If you have a whole string of conversions, for example in some chemistry problems, that multiplying repeatedly so the unwanted units cancel is a handy accounting tool.

I believe this is what we needed. Thanks so much!

To convert 3 seconds into days, you need to know the conversion factor between seconds and days. There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, and 24 hours in a day. Therefore, there are 60 x 60 x 24 = 86,400 seconds in a day.

To convert 3 seconds to days, you divide 3 by 86,400:

3 seconds ÷ 86,400 = 0.0000347 days

So, 3 seconds is approximately 0.0000347 days.

Now, let's move on to converting 2 inches into yards. The conversion factor between inches and yards is 36 inches in a yard. To convert inches to yards, you divide the number of inches by 36.

So, to convert 2 inches to yards:

2 inches ÷ 36 = 0.0556 yards

Therefore, 2 inches is approximately 0.0556 yards.
