how do you solve 4/x-2-7/x^2-4=1
I think you mean:
4/(x-2) - 7/(x^2-4) = 1
Assume x≠2 and x≠-2, factorize and multiply by common factor:
(x+2)(x-2)[4/(x-2) - 7/((x-2)(x+2)) = (x+2)(x-2)
4(x+2)-7=x²-4
=>
x²-4x-5=0
(x-5)(x+1)=0
Guess you can take it from here.
