30= 3x-6, where x=old racket
so x=12, old racket cost 12 dollars

The new price (or \$30) = 3x - 6

old price = x

We now equate:

30 = 3x - 6

30 + 6 = 3x

36 = 3x

36/3 = x

12 = x

Old Price = \$12.
