  1. 30= new racket
    30= 3x-6, where x=old racket
    so x=12, old racket cost 12 dollars

  2. new price = $30

    The new price (or $30) = 3x - 6

    old price = x

    We now equate:

    30 = 3x - 6

    30 + 6 = 3x

    36 = 3x

    36/3 = x

    12 = x

    Old Price = $12.

    Done!
