What are electrolytic lesions in terms of psychology and the brain? I can't find it anywhere and I don't know what it means...

Electrolytic lesions are ways of destroying extremely small and specific parts of the brain with electrical current to find out what the function of those parts were. Changes in behavior after lesioning indicate the function(s) of that area.

In contrast, with microelectrodes, much smaller amounts of electrical current can be used to stimulate specific neurons to findtheir function(s).

I hope this helps a little more. Thanks for asking.
