I was wondering if you can help me with these two questions. Thank you

Question # 1
A horse is pulling a heavy cart up a hill. The cart has 400 kg of mass inside it. The horse is pulling the cart with 10 N of force. What is the magnitude of the force on the horse due to the cart?

Question # 2

Question # 2
A car of mass 500 kg going 20 m/s collides with a car of 750 kg at rest. Which of the following statements are true? (Select all that are true.)

a) The car at rest feels the greater force.

b) the car that is moving feels the greater force

c) The two cars feel the same magnitude of force.

d) The two cars have the same acceleration due to the collision.

e)The car at rest has the greater acceleration due to the collision.

The car that is moving has the greater acceleration due to the collision.

Newton's third law is action is equal and opposite to reaction. Therefore 10 N

(That is way too little to pull a cart though.)

The two cars see the same force (Third law again

the lighter car will accelerate more
Mbig A big = m small a small

some of the possible answers to question # 1 is

4000n,10n,40n, not enough info or none of the above, would you recommend none of the above ?

for question # 2 you woud say the only answer would be that the lighter car has a greater acceertion due to the collison?

No, c alone. Both have the same force

the light one has greater acceleration. That is not one of your choices.

10 N is correct for the first one. Of course there is no way 10N will pull the cart. You probably weigh about m g = 60*9.8 = 588 N

okay . and for question # 1 you woud recommonded choosing none of the above correct ?

for question 1, 10 N is correct.

Unlikely but correct.

damon, does the car that weighs 500kg have more acceleration? if so, would e be correct then?

here's the bottom three choices again:
c. The two cars have the same acceleration due to the collision.
d. car at rest has the greater acceleration due to the collision.
e. The car that is moving has the greater acceleration due to the collision.

what you wrote was:

" e)The car at rest has the greater acceleration due to the collision. "

That is wrong.

Now you have changed the wording of e so it is right.
