Like Kate said, make sure it fits your audience. If you're giving a speech to kindergartners, don't put high-school vocabulary in there. Writeacher has cited some very helpful resources that should aid you in your process. Above all, remember to beleive in your topic. If you don't fully back the subject you are speaking about, your purpose will fall flat and be ineffective.
