i need some reasons why segregated classroom (by race) would be a bad idea.

Diversification (multicultural) is one reason.

DrBob has given you one excellent reason. What reasons can YOU think of?

i think...that if children are tuaght to discriminate others, they will not stop and continue to say stereotypes and pass it on to future generations..but i can't think of 2 other reasons

You've given a good reason.

In a racially diverse classroom, children learn about other ethnic groups and their customs. They learn to work together.

Also -- schools with only African-Americans tended to be poorly funded and maintained.

What about the idea of learning to interact with social skills? That's two out of three. The third one is all yours.

o...thank you so much...one more thing...do you know anystatistics or facts that may support these reasons?

You're very welcome. I suggest you Google racially segregated schools to find facts and statistics.

for the racially diverse classrooms..what should i put would happen if the students are separated??

Segregated classrooms, based on race or any other discriminatory factor, have been widely regarded as a bad idea for several reasons. Here are a few reasons why segregated classrooms would be considered detrimental:

1. Promotes Discrimination: Segregated classrooms reinforce racial divisions and perpetuate stereotypes. Children exposed to such an environment may grow up with biased attitudes and prejudiced beliefs. Integration, on the other hand, promotes diversity and fosters acceptance.

2. Inequality in Education: Segregated classrooms typically result in unequal access to resources and quality education. Minority groups often suffer from lower funding, fewer experienced teachers, and limited educational opportunities compared to their counterparts. This can lead to academic achievement gaps and hinder potential future success.

3. Limited Exposure and Understanding: Segregated classrooms limit students' exposure to diversity and different perspectives. Education is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about developing social skills and cultural understanding. Inclusion in a diverse environment fosters respect, empathy, and appreciation for people from various backgrounds, promoting a more inclusive society.

4. Negative Impact on Self-Esteem: Segregation can adversely affect the self-esteem and self-worth of students from minority groups. Being isolated based on race can communicate a message of inferiority, thereby undermining their confidence and hindering their academic and personal growth.

5. Missed Opportunities for Collaboration: In a segregated classroom, students miss out on the benefits of teamwork, collaboration, and learning from each other's diverse experiences and perspectives. Integration promotes cross-cultural communication, cooperation, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural society, which is essential in today's globalized world.

It is essential to acknowledge that these reasons are based on research, social values, and principles of equality and inclusivity. To understand the broader context and delve deeper into this issue, it is recommended to explore academic literature, expert opinions, and personal experiences.
