1. In story, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", by James Thurber, roles Walter Mitty play in his daydreams be a pilot during starting of story. "We can't make it, sir. It's spoiling for a hurricane, if you ask me." "I'm not asking you Lieutenant Berg," said the commander. Walter Mitty daydreams being Lieutenant Berg the pilot. Mitty daydreams of being doctor operating on man. He also daydreams being goon and captain of sergeant. And last he dreams being brave and bold man about to be shot by firing squad. Capabilites and personal qualities he demonstrate be confident and skilled. Impression he make on others be to use their imagination and make life fantasy like. The daydreams contrast with his daily life by in his imagination he be able to do a lot of things in his real life he be absent-minded, and forgetful.

i post other questions separately.

In this statement, Mitty is expressing that he can be courageous and brave in his imagination, even if he may not be in reality. Let me break it down for you:

1. "We only live once, sergeant": This phrase is often used to emphasize the importance of making the most out of life because we only have one chance at it. Mitty is acknowledging that life is precious and shouldn't be wasted.

2. "Or do we?": This is a rhetorical question that challenges the idea that we only have one life. Mitty is suggesting that perhaps, in his imagination, he can experience multiple lives or moments of bravery.

So, to understand this statement, you need to recognize that Mitty is acknowledging that he may not be brave in reality, but he finds the courage to be brave in his imagination. It demonstrates his desire for adventure and his ability to escape the limitations of his everyday life through daydreams.
