In the colonies how did the colonist hold and election? If you couldn't read or write how did you vote?

Press Ctrl + F and then type in vote to find the exact sections in which voting is described.

Be sure you keep in mind, though, that only MEN with LANDED PROPERTY (and there were undoubtedly other restrictions) could vote.

UM.... IM NOT REALLY GETTING IT. COULD YOU SIMPLIFY IT. REMEMBER IM ONLY IN 5TH GRADE.

A good question would be this: If the colonists were experiencing taxation without representation, then were they able to vote at all?

??

Elections were held for the most part at local assemblies, by a show of hands. The hand vote for each assembly was recorded, and then the totals were tallied after all the tally sheets came in to a central location. Usually, only men over 21 who owned property could vote.

WHAT IS taxation without representation

"During the years prior to and during the Revolution, advocates of American independence decried the fact that the American colonies were required to pay taxes to London, yet they had no representatives in Parliament. The Americans protested loss of a historic right of all Englishmen, that only their elected representatives could levy a tax."
