there's a question that I don't understand and the direction says that
'solve problems as combination integer problems.remember to rewrite all double sign problems as combination problems before solving' and here's a question 50- -61+ - 170 =
I believe they just want you to write it as
50 + 61 - 170 and then evaluate.
I find it puzzling why authors have to invent and come up with new language and new expressions of simple age-old problems.

To solve the given problem:
50 - (-61) + (-170)
First, we need to rewrite the double sign problems as combination problems.
The double negative sign (- -) can be rewritten as a positive addition sign (+).
So, the equation becomes:
50 + 61 + (-170)
Next, we solve the combination integer problems by adding and subtracting the numbers.
50 + 61 is equal to 111.
Now, we have:
111 + (-170)
To add a negative number, we can think of it as subtracting the corresponding positive number.
Therefore, 111 + (-170) is the same as 111 - 170.
Subtracting 170 from 111 gives us -59.
Hence, the answer to the equation 50 - (-61) + (-170) is -59.
